The vision of The Barre and Beyond is to challenge each participant to exceed their personal health goals through an accessible and affordable online platform. The Barre and Beyond utilizes a broad background of expertise and experience to create a variety of programs which help each participant succeed and enjoy exercise.
Mission
The mission of The Barre and Beyond is to enhance the way the body moves by unlocking resources from within. The Barre and Beyond delves into the basics of human motion to establish a solid foundation in posture and skills. The Barre and Beyond will incorporate concepts from strength and conditioning, Pilates and rehabilitation to provide a unique method of cross-training for every client. The Barre and Beyond holds to the philosophy that the body was created to move efficiently and safely and utilizes current research to assist the body into returning to this optimal function.
Meet the Team
Richelle Stevenson, LAT ATC, Owner
Richelle (Ricki) Stevenson is a licensed athletic trainer (LAT), certified Pilates instructor and professional ballet dancer. In 2015, she graduated summa cum laude from Grand Canyon University with a bachelor’s degree in athletic training and a minor in dance education. While in college, Ricki competed nationally in dance and graduated with honors through the National Honors Society of Dance Arts (NHSDA). She has several years of experience in sports medicine caring for athletes of all ages, covering emergency situations and developing rehabilitation programs. Ricki joined Ekklesia Contemporary Ballet in 2017, and is now the Assistant Director. The company regularly tours using dance to initiate discussion about ecojustice, mental health and caring for the community. She and her husband now live in Connecticut with their dog, Kiira, and cat, Islay. Ricki founded The Barre and Beyond, LLC to bridge the gap in healthcare between injury recovery and fitness, helping dancers and non-dancers a-like.

Athletic Trainers are healthcare providers which practice under a physician. Ricki is pleased to welcome Dr. Micheal Kuhn to The Barre and Beyond as the overseeing, and referring physician for all patients and clients.

Dr. Kuhn joins Orthopedic Associates of Middletown after a 27-year career of distinguished military service in the United States Navy. Prior to joining the practice as a distinguished sports medicine subspecialist, he served with distinction achieving the rank of Commander. He served as the Chief of Orthopaedics while stationed at the Naval Hospital Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, and in support of Operation Enduring Freedom at the Expeditionary Medical Facility in Kuwait. He served as the Assistant Residency Director of Orthopaedic Surgery at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland – The President’s Hospital. Dr. Kuhn has a passion for the treatment of athletes of all ages and arthroscopic surgery including the shoulder, elbow, hip, knee, and ankle. He routinely performs advanced cartilage restoration procedures returning athletes to the highest level of function and preserving joints to avoid joint replacement surgeries. He was recognized as the Federal Health Care Physician of the Year in 2013 for his cutting edge techniques and skills in cartilage restoration resulting in combat athletes returning to their occupations and duties at levels not previously achieved. In 2008, Dr. Kuhn was selected as one of three Orthopaedic surgeons in the nation attending the prestigious Advanced Arthroscopic Traveling Fellowship with the Arthroscopy Association of North America. Born and raised in southeastern Pennsylvania, Dr. Kuhn attended the United States Naval Academy and then the Uniformed Services University where he was indicted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. He completed his Orthopaedic surgery residency at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. He completed an Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Fellowship at the New England Baptist Hospital in Boston in 2006. Dr. Kuhn holds academic appointments at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. He is Board Certified in Orthopaedic Surgery and holds a Certificate of Added Qualifications in Sports Medicine. Dr. Kuhn maintains numerous memberships in premier Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Societies and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
Dr. Kuhn enjoys outdoor activities, travel, and community events. He has completed 10 Marathons and travels extensively with his wife and family both nationally and internationally.
Tiffany Oltjenbruns, Pilates Instructor
Tiffany Oltjenbruns has always enjoyed the freedom of moving, which began with her love of dance and now translates into her passion for Pilates. Tiffany has extensive knowledge of movement science and anatomy as she has been practicing Pilates for over ten years. She trained under Jeannine Corbell, Master Pilates instructor with Balanced Body. Tiffany’s certification is through the PhysicalMind Institute. She enjoys teaching Pilates to Brenau University students of all levels and the dancers of the Gainesville Ballet Company. Her style of teaching includes traditional methods while infusing exciting variations. She graduated from Brenau University with a B.A. in Dance and a concentration in Pre-Physical Therapy. At Brenau, she was awarded the Outstanding Senior in Dance Award and the Performing Artist Award. She is joining Ekklesia Contemporary Ballet as a Company Artist in July 2023 and is excited to be moving to Middletown, Connecticut to begin her next Pilates adventure.
